A thoughtful connection leads to an epic podcast interview and the start of a #HeartspokenMovement
Of the four essential connections of the Heartspoken Life (with God, with Self, with Others, and with Nature), our Connection with Others never ceases to amaze me in the wonderful ways it plays out in my life and opens up rich relationships and opportunities I wouldn’t have had otherwise.
Here’s a recent example.
Last December I attended a Holiday Book Fair at our local Laurel Ridge Community College. I was walking around the room to meet the other authors who had tables there, and I was happy to see and visit with my friend, the multi-talented Rich Follett. We traded books, and a little while later, after he’d had a chance to look at my book, he came over and said he’d like to put me in touch with a friend of his, Randall Kenneth Jones, because he thought my book would be “right down Randy’s alley.” He remembered that Randy was a close friend of Peggy Post, Director Emeritus of the Emily Post Institute, and thought that connection might help me. But he wanted me to follow up with Randy myself.
So I did.
Randy called me back just a couple of days later and we had a great conversation. He invited me to send him a copy of my book and an extra one for him to give to Peggy Post!
UPDATE six weeks later: The copy of my book given by Randall Kenneth Jones to Peggy Post, Director Emeritus of the Emily Post Institute, resulted in a perfectly beautiful handwritten note from her. With her permission, I share here an excerpt from her comments:
Heartspoken is a work of art—and a work of heart. Your words are packed with wisdom and inspiration. It is so practical and I especially admire how you put the reader at ease with your encouragement to write naturally. Your NOTES formula is brilliant!”

Within a month, Randy contacted me again and asked me to be a guest on his popular podcast JONES.SHOW: Jonesing for Good, in which he has interviewed a dizzying array of influencers, celebrities, and others (like me) so he can shine a spotlight on what he sees as their good work in the world. You can listen to his interview with me by clicking HERE or on the image below.
Not only was it a fun interview, but Randy and I experienced the joy of discovering that we were kindred spirits in so many ways. He was incredibly generous in expressing support for my book and its message. He even encouraged me to create my own hashtag: #HeartspokenMovement! He inspired me to follow his lead in being willing to step out of my comfort zone to meet people I can learn from. His book SHOW ME resulted from his doing just that for himself.
So thank you, Rich Follett and Randall Kenneth Jones, for your kindness, your generosity, and your belief in my #HeartspokenMovement. Your support was the best kind of Connection…it was love in action.
