Note Writer’s Secret Weapon: The Erasable Pen

Note Writer's Secret Weapon: The Erasable Pen
February 17, 2023 by Elizabeth H. Cottrell

One of the most common questions I am asked is whether it’s okay to send a note or letter in which you’ve made a mistake and corrected it with a scratch-through. The answer is “Yes” for everything but the most formal or professional notes, but here’s my secret weapon:

Pilot FriXion Erasable Get Ink Pens

The gel ink looks so close to fountain pen ink, and these tips write very smoothly for an inexpensive pen. They’re available in a wonderful array of colors, but I always keep black and blue pens on hand for most of my writing needs—stashed in all the places I might need one. And while the pens are reasonably enought priced to just buy new ones, I also use the refills to make sure I always have what I need and to save a bit of money.

When NOT to use an erasable pen

Of course you don’t want to use an erasable pen for signing checks or important or legal documents. You may want to use a more permanent ink for your journals or letters that you hope will be kept for years. But otherwise, these erasable pens are fantastic for everyday correspondence, wall or desk calendars, or anything that is subject to change or correction.

I wouldn’t be without them. Give them a try today by clicking on any of the images or links below to learn more.

This is a great starter pack, because it contains the two colors you’ll use most often as well as some refills:

Here’s a pack I’ve ordered often to enjoy the different colors:

Here’s what the refill packages look like:

I love erasable pens and use them all the time: for lists and calendars. They are great!

Yes, and the quality has improved so much since the first ones many years ago. Of course, they’re also great for crossword and sodoku puzzles! :-). Thanks for commenting, Jan.

I love this tip! I need to get some to have on hand. I always feel embarrassed when I need to cross out a misspelled word on a note. Thanks, Elizabeth!

I enjoy having these erasable pens on hand, especially for writing on my calendar, scheduler book, or anywhere that the entries are subject to change later. Of course, they’re also great for informal notes because they’re so easy to erase if you make a mistake. Thanks so much for reading and commenting, Denise.
