Business networking and the power of connection

September 8, 2012 by Elizabeth H. Cottrell

Most of my business-oriented advice is shared at my LinkedIn newsletter “The HEARTSPOKEN Connection, so if you have a small business and want some help navigating the ever-changing landscape of effective marketing and business correspondence, head on over and subscribe so you don’t miss anything.

The power of connection is an important concept in business as well as in personal life. Damian Hamill of Watt Works Consulting Ltd. in the U.K. cited a Harvard Business Review article and some interesting sociological research that concluded,

For personal and professional success – connect with other people.  Very often those who get the best out of such networking are those who go into such encounters looking for opportunities to do favours for others rather than helping themselves.

Don’t you just love it when research confirms what you’ve believed all along?

Have a great day, and be open to connections all around you!

I never connect with “a business.” Connecting with people is more fun, more personal, more rewarding!

Right on, Karen! Business owners and customer service folks forget this at their peril. Thanks so much for visiting and commenting!
