This marvelous performance (16 minutes) by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, narrated beautifully by Hugh Bonneville, is not just telling the poignant and inspiring origin story of one of our most beloved hymns—”It is well with my soul”—but it is a powerful reminder of what Christmas means and how it can elevate us to the realm of saints and angels if we let it. I hope you’ll watch the entire performance, but the ending will stay with me throughout this new year:
Hope can heal the wounded soul. And the Christmas work—of giving, of loving, serving, and of rescuing—is ours if we choose to make it so. And as we do, we join with saints and angels to rejoice and sing, “It is well, it is well with my soul.”
What small step can you take this week to be a conduit for God’s love and hope to someone who needs it? Maybe it’s simply by sharing this post.
Merry Christmas, my dear friends. May your Heartspoken Life be filled and infused with the Christmas spirit this day.
