My dear Heartspoken readers:
The editorial calendar says today’s post should be about connecting with one’s self, and when I reflected on that, I discovered something important:
I need a break.
I’m getting ready to go pack so my husband and I can get on a plane tomorrow and fly to New Mexico to visit our daughter and her husband for Christmas. I’ve made an executive decision (and a self-care decision) to take a break next week and focus on my time with family and consider the reason for the season: celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
I’ll miss you—I really will—but I’ll come back refreshed and renewed and ready to begin a wonderful new year. I’m already brimming with ideas about how I can ramp up our discovery of new ways to make those connections that are so essential to our happiness and well-being.
I’d love to hear from you if there are any particular topics you’d like me to explore or any particular issues you’ve had when it comes to life’s essential connections.
In the mean time, I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas. Get some rest. Have some fun. And I’ll see you after Christmas!
Love,
Elizabeth

Thank you, Mimi! It was indeed a wonderful, restful time. Happy New Year to you and yours!

I know what you mean about taking a break. I’ve sort of been taking a break from the blog for December (I just posted a re-run for supporting the troops – I HAVE to do that one every year). And I’ll be spending time with Kenton, Chris, Wayne, and Shawn. There’s nothing more important than family and friends. The blog can wait.
Enjoy your trip to my old stomping grounds. 🙂

I knew you’d understand, Karen! I hope your own time with family is so special. I know it will be.

Karen, I hope your holiday family time was as therapeutic as mine was. All the best for a great new year!

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Elizabeth. I believe that ‘taking a break’ can sometimes be the greatest gift we can give ourselves! Enjoy the repose and the respite, the family and the fun that being together can create. To love, peace, joy, and good breaks. 🙂

Thanks so much, Pamela! I hope your Christmas in your new home is wonderful.

Enjoy your trip and your break! I have one piece almost ready to send you and another in my head, so maybe that can extend your break a bit.
Have a wonderful Christmas with your family.
