Word Of The Week: Farouche

Faithful Writers Word of the Week blog title
January 18, 2019 by Elizabeth H. Cottrell

This week’s word is “farouche.”

Farouche

  1. disorderly, unruly, wild
  2. recklessly unsociable; surly

He was a strange, farouche man, and she found herself both repelled and attracted to his unpredictable behavior.

The visitor was odd and farouche. We didn’t know if he was just uncomfortable in the situation or completely clueless about how to act in a social setting.

His thoughts were wild and farouche. Could God really love him when his wild mental rantings seemed so out of control?

How would you use “farouche” in a sentence?

I love learning new words and this one is a doozy. And here is a great (Old)!word to learn – doozy! “The farouche child entered our house and put my husband into a doozy within five minutes.” 🤓

Love it! Thanks for playing along, Pam. I find if I don’t use a new word when I first learn it —even when the use is whimsical—I don’t retain it. And I love the word “doozy.” I had no idea it was an old word!
