As a serious student of the Power of Connection, I was thrilled to discover this virtual choir project by musician/composer Eric Whitacre. It displays connection on so many levels: musical, spiritual, technological, cultural, and personal. The first video, featuring Whitacre speaking for the TED talk audience, tells how the idea came to be — all from one fan who recorded herself singing the soprano part to one of his pieces. The evolution to a worldwide virtual choir in which everyone shares the same language of music is absolutely stunning in its scope and beauty.
The second video is Whitacre’s 2012 award-winning production of his composition “Sleep.” It is also created with a virtual choir featuring singers from 58 countries. Even non-musicians will enjoy these, but if you have ever experienced the joy of singing in a choir or choral group, you will find them especially moving.
